BIOGRAPHY
Borned in Écija (Spain), Juan Mena studied Clarinet & Music Composition at the Conservatory of Music ‘Manuel Castillo’ in Seville. He specialized in audiovisual music by completing a Master’s Degree in Composition for Audiovisual Media at the Centro Superior Katarina Gurska in Madrid. He has further developed his through workshops and masterclasses led by industry professionals such as Conrad Pope, Óscar Senén, Nerea Alberdi and Norman Ludwin.
In the audiovisual field, he has worked in several short films, including El canto de la chicharra (2026), Dafne y Pol (2026) or Calcetines (2025), among others, as well as the feature-length documentary Los chavales de Morelia (2024). Moreover, he has worked as composer and sound designer for video games such as Stones of Chaos (2022) or Super Hiper Luminum Gun (2022).
Juan Mena also writes concert music. His catalogue includes works for solo instruments (Misty Dyes, for prepared piano), for chamber ensembles (Nature, for string quartet, flute, harp and piano) and large ensembles (Echoes of Liberation, for symphonic band). The latter received three awards in international competitions: an Akademia Music Award (California), the Global Music Awards (California), and the II Concurso de Composición «Emili Giménez Bou» (España).
His experience also extendes to genres such as pop and flamenco. He has worked as an arranger for artists including Pilar Bogado, María Villalón and Rocío Ojuelos, and as a music copyist for renowned artists such as José Mercé and Zade Dirani.
